Miniroos Mixed U8-U11

MiniRoos is designed for players of all abilities, aged 8-11 years. The nation-wide initiative uses short, game-based sessions to introduce the sport of football to newcomers in an inclusive way. It focuses on learning new skills, being active, making life-long friends and, potentially, unearthing the next generation of Subway Socceroos or CommBank Matildas!

The season competition runs from April to September with many teams starting training in March. Games are played on Sunday mornings. Home games are at Mayer Park, Thornbury. Teams play in Kanga, Wallaby or Joey divisions, with Kanga for the most able players. All players must wear shin guards and bring a water bottle to training and games. Our coaches are mainly parent volunteers, but many are qualified to the required Football Victoria level for the age group. Under 8

• Under 8 born in 2016

• 7-a-side soccer played home and away on Sunday mornings.

• Home games are at Mayer Park usually kick off is normally 9am or 10am.  Away games kick off at a time determined by the opposition.

• Games are 40 minutes duration (20 mins each way), played on 1/4 of a full size pitch with Goal Keepers and using size 3 balls.

• An hour skills training is undertaken twice a week (with the day and time being determined by the team coach). Training is compulsory.

• 1 coach for each squad of 10 players.

• Club team kit is provided, including top, shorts, socks, jacket. Other items can be purchased from the Club online store. All children must wear shin guards.

• The Club playing uniform – team shirt, shorts and socks are required to be worn for all games.

Grading for Under 9, 10 and 11 Teams

Players will play in Kanga, Wallaby or Joey teams based on ability, with Kanga team being for the most able players. We may have one, two or all 3 Teams in each age group, depending on numbers and ability.
